Taking a step back because of JAM!
Restaurant Wijmpje Beukers is a well known restaurant in the Pijp in Amsterdam. Owners Maarten van Belkom, Jordy Kok and Thomas Herregraven also opened a new restaurant on January first, 2021: bistro and traiteur Schotsheuvel in Amsterdam Zuid. We spoke with owner Maarten, who has become very good in making business deals over the last few years. After being responsible on his own for a few years, he started looking for an HR partner. ‘Because of JAM! I could take a step back as the owner, and started manager Robin his own process with JAM!. I know that Robin is getting the right advice, which is why I am able to relax.’ On top of that, Maarten notices the insurance of ill employees. ‘I just want to be able to show my compassion, without making a fuss about other things. That is now possible.’
A sharp all-in tariff
Maarten has been working with another payroll company before, but stopped this collaboration after nine months. He took back control himself: ‘When you’re windows are never shattered, you don’t need glass insurance.’ With an accountant he took care of all the payslips of his employees and read very thoroughly about all the new legislations and rules every year. Yet he decided to switch to JAM!. ‘Your tariff is way lower, and way more complete. Also, everything is way more clear and JAM! has a very hands-on mentality.’ There were a lot of conversations with JAM!’s Accountmanager Maarten, and with HR Manager Yvonne, in which was given the space and time to think about a collaboration. ‘That felt very nice, because I didn’t want to rush things.’
Reliability for the employees
The trust employees have in JAM! is Maarten’s pillar. ‘We are kind of like a family. I didn’t want them to have the feeling that they could be kicked out of the company just like that, because of the coronacrisis. That is not who we are.’ By making clear arrangements with JAM! about the NOW regulation, Maarten found it to be the right time to start working together with JAM!. The arrangements made the whole thing reliable and trustworthy, and that was what he was looking for. ‘We want to show some balls and show that we are not just going to drop our employees. That the’re going to think: we have gotten through these war times safely,’ Maarten says laughing.
